Educated Incapacity?
Do architects, engineers and contractors really have the “right stuff” to bring about a revolution in energy efficiency of buildings, to achieve 50% improvements in current building energy use for new and remodeled buildings by 2010, as called for by Architecture 2030 Architecture 2030?
My article, Educated Incapacity?, for the October 16th issue of IGreenBuild newsletter discusses whether architects, engineers and contractors really have the “right stuff” to bring about a revolution in energy efficiency of buildings, to achieve 50% improvements in current building energy use for new and remodeled buildings by 2010. My conclusion is that there is a mammoth education and training requirement, along with significant changes in how buildings are designed and delivered, to meet this important goal.
