SRP is in the unique position of providing power and municipal water to Scottsdale. They are able to provide “Smart” irrigation system controllers to home owners at no cost as they have built in a demand response feature. As they are able to prohibit watering during the peak electric demand hours (4-6 pm) which also happen to be the worse hours to irrigate, they can save the power from the pumps that provide and stabilize the municipal water pressure. Saves water, saves energy, saves money! A trifecta that every water utility should be looking at.
