Green Homes Building Momentum
At
the 9th annual NAHB national green building conference in St. Louis in
March, we heard from McGraw-Hill VP Harvey Bernstein about the rapidly
expanding $2 billion market for new green homes. Home buyers were
85% happier in their new green home vs. their previous home. 28% first
heard about green homes from other people (the power of WOM – word
of mouth) vs. 20% from television, the next highest source. Home energy
costs matter, motivating 63% of the green home buyers.

Awards & Green Building: “And the Greenie goes to…”
Hollywood’s Oscars inspired Jerry’s published perspective on
the importance of not giving awards to any green building design project

Yudelson Associates Project Profiles
For a major manufacturer of building products, Yudelson Associates provided three months of hands-on consulting for the corporate sustainability task force. During this assignment we helped the company define how their product line would fit with the world of green building. Result: a very successful new set of marketing materials and a presentation training for the sales force, covering how to “sell green” knowledgably without claiming too much.
Mr. Yudelson was also retained by VCBO Architects and Westminster College to facilitate an “eco-charrette” that supported the early design process of a new science building that is to be built on the 130-year-old campus in Salt Lake City. With full participation from the faculty, staff and design team, Yudelson helped the organization come up with many good ideas that will be developed further by the design and construction team.
