YUDELSON REAPPOINTED AS LEED NATIONAL FACULTY

TUCSON, Arizona – October 30 – Yudelson Associates, a leading green building consulting firm, announced today that its founder and principal, Jerry Yudelson, PE, LEED AP, has been reappointed to the LEED national faculty for. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is the green building rating and certification system used by nearly 5,000 building projects in the U.S. and in 13 countries. Its use is growing by more than 50% per year, according to Yudelson’s research. The LEED faculty offers training workshops in the LEED system throughout the United States and Canada.

“The LEED system has revolutionized how the design community produces commercial, residential and institutional buildings in this country. LEED is the most practical way to harmonize building design with concerns for energy efficiency, water conservation, materials recycling and healthier indoor environments,” said Yudelson. “LEED has been embraced by the leading national organizations for architects, engineers and interior designers, as well as by government agencies at all levels.” More than 50 cities and counties and more than 16 states either require LEED for all public buildings and/or offer incentives to private developers to register and certify their buildings to the LEED standard.

Yudelson is a former Board Member of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), a national nonprofit with more than 6,300 corporate and institutional members. He also serves on the national core committees for both LEED for New Construction and a companion standard, LEED for Core and Shell development, the only person to serve on two national “core committees” for USGBC. He has trained nearly 3,000 people in the LEED green building assessment framework since 2001, when he was selected as one of the ten original LEED national faculty members.

Yudelson Associates, Tucson, AZ, www.greenbuildconsult.com, was formed in 2006 to “grow the business of green building” and facilitating sustainability initiatives. The founder, Jerry Yudelson, is a leading national authority on green buildings and corporate sustainability, with three books on green marketing and more than three dozen articles to his credit in the past three years. He is the senior editor of the web site, www.igreenbuild.com.
