Last Year’s Book, Next Year’s Needs You
This year saw the publication of Jerry’s best book yet, Dry Run: Preventing the Next Urban Water Crisis, a primer for public agencies, elected officials, architects, engineers and building owners on successful water conserving policies and water-smart designs. If you’d like to review this book for a newsletter, blog or other publication, let us know and we’ll put you in touch with the publisher to receive a copy. You Can Help with Our Next Book!
Jerry and co-author Professor Ulf Meyer are working on a new book, The World’s Greenest Buildings: Promise vs. Performance in Sustainable Design (Routledge: London, 2012). For the research on this book, we’re taking a ‘crowd sourcing’ approach. If you’d like to nominate or suggest a LEED Platinum, BREEAM Outstanding, Six-Star Green Star or other highly rated building for possible inclusion in this work, go to our research questionnaire and give us some information on the project. The key is that the project owners need to agree to release actual building performance data.
Free Articles, Valuable Insights
Jerry’s most recent article was written for the just-completed COP-16 summit on global climate change in Cancun, Mexico, "Conserving Urban Water Resources Cuts Greenhouse Gas Emissions.” You can find it under the Free Resources on our website. Please look for other recent articles that Jerry has written for national magazines including:
“Water and Sustainability” and
“If It Doesn’t Perform, It Can’t Be Green.”
The Green Building Consulting Edge
LEED and Sustainability Consulting
We continue to provide LEED consulting and corporate/campus sustainability consulting for clients around the U.S. As examples, we’re working on a LEED Gold-seeking corporate headquarters building in Tucson and finished (with two other firms) a major campus sustainability master plan for The Ohio State University, the country’s largest campus. We can work with corporate task forces and university committees to craft sustainability plans and initiatives and with building owners/developers/contractors on LEED projects. We also provide “eco-charrettes” to help focus projects at the outset of design services.

Green Marketing Consulting
With the ongoing recession, excellence in marketing planning, strategy and execution is again critical for professional firms, contractors, green products manufacturers, software developers and similar companies. We literally "wrote the book” on green marketing and continue to advise clients on successful tactics and new forms of business development. This past year, we worked with three startup software clients to prepare market entry strategies.
