Yudelson Associates Spring 2011 Newsletter
Happy Spring Equinox to everyone! It’s the season for growth and development throughout the Northern Hemisphere. We hope that you also enjoyed the very large full moon on March 19th; and, to celebrate our fresh young spirit and new beginnings, here’s the latest green building resources and other offerings from Yudelson Associates.
Free Visual Reference/Resource: The New Water Sources Pyramid
We’re pleased to offer to you Jerry Yudelson’s latest conceptual breakthrough, an easy to use diagram that is called the “New Water Sources Pyramid.” This attractive chart ranks alternatives for preventing the next urban water crisis by cost and complexity, from easiest to hardest, in ten logical increments. This visual tool makes an easy to use, valuable reference for water managers, water auditors and engaged citizens. You can download a free PDF copy today from the GreenBuildConsult.com blog.
Project Update: Tucson’s UniSource Headquarters
Yudelson Associates is actively engaged managing the LEED Gold certification of the 250,000-sq.ft., 9-story new headquarters office building for UniSource, the parent company of Tucson Electric Power. Occupancy is scheduled for later this year. We’re finding that the most challenging part is to get and keep all the project participants on the same page and same timeline for LEED certification documentation. Please click here for more information about our LEED Consulting Services.
New Book Seeks Your Input: The World’s Greenest Buildings
We’re still collecting case studies and building operating data for a forthcoming book, The World’s Greenest Buildings: Promise vs. Performance in Sustainable Design, the first global survey of how the highest-rated green buildings are performing. Please check out our online survey in order to submit your project for consideration or you may contact Jerry directly with your suggestions: jerry@greenbuildconsult.com
Yudelson’s Green Building Keynotes Continue to Break New Ground
Jerry’s on the road again this spring, keynoting upcoming conferences and events, including a corporate meeting for Emerson, a diversified global manufacturing and technology company; keynoting the Business of Clean Energy in Alaska conference in Anchorage; and speaking on urban water crises in San Antonio in June for the US Green Building Council chapter in central Texas.
In early March, two hundred people attended Jerry’s webinar for GreenExpo365.com on “The Business Case for Net Zero Energy Buildings.” You can find the presentation on Jerry’s Slideshare Channel. And, in April, you’ll be able to read Jerry’s essay on this subject in Building Design & Construction magazine’s eighth annual Green Building White Paper, “Net-Zero Energy Buildings + Homes.”

The Green Building Consulting Edge
LEED and Sustainability Consulting
We continue to provide LEED consulting and corporate/campus sustainability consulting for clients around the U.S. As examples, we’re working on a LEED Gold-seeking corporate headquarters building in Tucson and finished (with two other firms) a major campus sustainability master plan for The Ohio State University, the country’s largest campus. We can work with corporate task forces and university committees to craft sustainability plans and initiatives as well as with building owners/developers/contractors on LEED projects. We also provide "eco-charrettes" to help focus projects at the outset of design services.
Green Marketing Consulting
With the ongoing recession, excellence in marketing planning, strategy and execution is again critical for professional firms, contractors, green products manufacturers, software developers and similar companies. We literally "wrote the book" on green marketing and continue to advise clients on successful tactics and new forms of business development. This past year, we worked with three startup software clients to prepare market entry strategies.
