TUCSON, Arizona - October 11 - Yudelson Associates, a leading green building consulting firm, released today a White Paper for the campus sustainability movement, “The GIST of Campus Sustainability - Gain Impact. Save Time.” Co-authored by principal Jerry Yudelson, PE, LEED AP and Senior Associate Tom Buckholtz, PhD, the white paper presents an effective method for organizing sustainability efforts at colleges and universities nationwide.

Yudelson is a founding Board Member of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE), the largest national umbrella organization for faculty, students, administrators, staff and facilities professionals. Started in January of 2006, AASHE has more than 160 university members, as of October 2006. The Association’s first annual conference, held in Tempe, AZ, last week, drew more than 650 registrants, including more than 200 students.

“The GIST Toolkit (PDF) is a great system for organizing your work to achieve high level results,” said Yudelson. “By focusing on outcomes rather than inputs (programs, budgets, staffing, etc.), the GIST method shifts the focus first to setting goals, building coalitions and other foundational activities, then to results. It is useful not only for campuses but for any company or public agency that has sustainability at the forefront of its mission.”

Yudelson Associates, Tucson, AZ, www.greenbuildconsult.com, was formed in 2006 to “grow the business of green building” and facilitating sustainability initiatives. The founder, Jerry Yudelson, is a leading national authority on green buildings and corporate sustainability, with three books on green marketing and more than three dozen articles to his credit in the past three years. He is the senior editor of the web site, www.igreenbuild.com, and on the editorial board of two major national trade and professional magazines. Buckholtz is a former senior official in the first Bush Administration who has spent the last 20 years leading change initiatives at large organizations, in business, industry and government.
